Continua Health Alliance Will Demonstrate Products Designed to Empower People and Organizations to Better Manage Health and Wellness Anytime, Anywhere

2011 International CES

Digital Health Summit 2011

Booth #2820

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Continua Health Alliance and member companies Intel, Trac, Andago, Bluegiga, Texas Instruments (TI) and ZyXEL will demonstrate personal connected health solutions this week at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show Jan. 6-9, 2011. Visit us in the North Hall Digital Health Summit (Booth #2820) to see consumer digital health solutions in action.

“It Just Works: Mobile Health Today and the Future of Connected Wellness.”

Continua is the non-profit, open industry alliance of more than 230 leading healthcare and technology organizations dedicated to developing a global ecosystem of interoperable personal connected health solutions. Continua products and services leverage standards-based technology to keep individuals, healthcare providers and loved ones connected and empowered to manage health and wellness anytime, anywhere.

The demonstrations in the CES Digital Health Summit will include Continua Certified™ personal connected health solutions that allow individuals to live independently longer and solutions for managing chronic medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure and asthma/chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Demonstrations will include a Bluetooth blood pressure cuff and weight scale from A&D, a Bluetooth pulse oximeter from Nonin Medical and a Cypak USB converter cable designed to connect legacy devices to the Continua ecosystem. These devices will be combined with HealthLink PC managers from companies such as Intel and Lamprey Networks, Inc. (LNI) that turn a PC into a home health gateway, enabling Continua devices to deliver data to Personal Health Records (PHRs) and Electronic Health Records (EHRs). Intel will also display Continua Certified reference systems.

Other member demonstrations will include:

Andago: Andago will demonstrate a complete monitoring solution based on Continua Certification™ Guidelines. The Andago mobile health solution works by collecting patient data from a Continua device and sending it to a Linux mobile phone via Bluetooth. This data is then sent through the mobile network and registered in a personal health record (PHR) to be analyzed by Open Health Assistant, Andago’s care management platform.

ZyXEL: Networking technology leader ZyXEL will showcase its Smart Home Gateway (SHG) at the Continua booth. The SHG, a CES Innovations Honoree, is the industry’s first battery-powered 3G/802.11n wireless platform for health monitoring and assisted living solutions. On display live will be an SHG-powered blood glucose monitoring solution.

Texas Instruments (TI): TI will feature Continua Certified™ solutions for Telehealth and Telehealth Aggregation Managers on the TI demopod in the Continua booth. Representatives will be available for discussion throughout the show.

In addition to empowering individuals to maintain greater responsibility for their health, these easy-to-configure personal connected health devices provide consistent monitoring of individuals’ health and care status, enabling better informed treatment decisions by healthcare professionals and care teams.

Continua will host the closing keynote Digital Health Summit Conference panel discussion on Friday, January 7 at 4:30 p.m. entitled "It Just Works: Mobile Health Today and the Future of Connected Wellness." Led by Continua Executive Director Charles Parker, the panel will include representatives from Intel, Nokia, Ascension Health, Qualcomm, and Roche Diagnostics.
