Why Mighty Health was started
A few years ago, co-founder and CEO James Li' father was rushed to the hospital for emergency open heart surgery
Though his surgery was successful, his cardiologist warned that he needed to make immediate lifestyle changes (eat, sleep, move, etc.) or else his health would continue to worsen as he aged into his 60s and 70s
They found that most wellness programs (Peloton, Nike Training Club, Noom, etc.) while amazing, were primarily designed for motivated millennials
Aging is the biggest demographic shift in modern history (there will be more older adults than kids by 2035) and health is their top priority (85% of older adults have at least one chronic condition
But there are ironically very few modern wellness solutions that help them get started, provide consistent guidance, and are tailored for their needs- joint issues, chronic conditions, the need for extra guidance, less experience with mobile apps, and lack of a community (especially for those experiencing loneliness)
Mighty Health's vision is to build the modern health system for aging
How Mighty Health works
Mighty Health is the first exercise, nutrition, and wellness app designed specifically for people over 50
How it works:
Each member is given a health coach that designs a personalized plan and help keeps them on track. They can message their coach anytime via SMS with questions or adjustments
Every day, members can do guided workout videos led by experienced trainers that are specifically created for older adults - joint-friendly, low-impact, with many modifications offered
Examples: Low-Impact Aerobics, Chair Yoga, and Back/Shoulder Joint Strengthening Stretches
Members are given a personalized nutrition plan designed by physicians for long term health
Includes a personalized grocery list and a food journal where coaches give suggestions on alternative ingredients
There's a community of members who chat with and support each other on this health journey, discussing topics like favorite recipes, upcoming surgeries, or going through grief
The app is extremely easy to set up and use (it's often the first app many members have actually tried outside of Facebook). For example, the font sizes scale up with the member's phone settings, and buttons are easy to tap.
You can learn more about the product here, or download the app from the app store and try it for free!
