AARP, LivePitch Media Announce Ten Start-Up Finalists for 2013 Health Innovation@50+ Taking Place May 31 in Las Vegas

AARP and LivePitch Media on May 7 announced the 10 startup finalists for the second annual AARP Health Innovation @50+ LivePitch - which will take place May 31, 2013 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This premier showcase features the most innovative startup companies in the “50 and over” health technology and innovation sector.

During the first half of the day, the ten finalist companies will pitch their business to the judges and investor audience, including leading venture and angel investors. In the afternoon, AARP members join the program. Participating companies will redirect their pitches directly to the over 50 consumer audience, gaining valuable real-time consumer insight and feedback. At the end of the day, two grand-prize winners will be announced: an Investor Judges’ Winner and AARP Consumer Winner.

"127 excellent companies applied. This made for some tough decisions when it came time to determine the finalists," said Jody Holtzman, AARP’s Senior Vice President of Thought Leadership. "After careful consideration, we came away with 10 strong companies who we think are posed to make an impact in healthcare for those 50 and over – and for everyone. Not only am I looking forward to seeing each of these companies on stage, but I’m also looking forward to the Judges’ and the AARP members’ reactions to what these companies have to offer."

This year’s Judges include: Geoffrey Clapp with Rock Health; Brad Fluegel with Walgreen Co.; Alan E. Hall with Grow America; and Nina Kjellson with InterWest. The show is emcee’d by Lisa Suennen, Managing Member, Psilos Group. Guest speakers include executives from United Healthcare, Aetna, Humana, Walgreens and AARP.
