AARP to Connect Health Technology Startups with Investors at Health Innovation@50+ LivePitch on September 21 in New Orleans
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Aug. 1, 2012 – As part of AARP’s efforts to stimulate innovations that serve the health needs of Americans age 50+, AARP and LivePitch Media announced today the AARP Health Innovation@50+ LivePitch. On Friday, September 21 at the New Orleans Convention Center, this premier showcase will feature exciting companies in the health technology and innovation sector that serve the needs and wants of Americans 50 and older.
Taking place during the 2012 Life@50+ AARP National Event & Expo in New Orleans, which is attended by 20,000+ members and guests from across the U.S. and the globe, Health Innovation@50+ LivePitch will offer the venture capital and angel investor communities and the media the opportunity to connect with outstanding startups in the field of health technology and innovation.
Qualified companies are invited to be considered to pitch their products and/or services to a live audience, including venture capitalist and angel investment representatives, industry experts, and a panel of seasoned judges. Unique to this event, companies will also have the opportunity to pitch and receive real-time feedback from the marketplace – AARP members in the audience who reflect potential end-users and customers. After the pitches, demos and questions from the judges, a grand prize winner will be selected at the end of the day.
“Technology plays an increasingly vital role in health innovation, and the AARP Health Innovation@50+ LivePitch offers the perfect blend for entrepreneurs: the opportunity to engage with seasoned investors combined with the power of AARP, at the heart of our Life@50+ National Event & Expo,” said Jody Holtzman, AARP Senior Vice President of Thought Leadership. “This is the chance for startup companies to accelerate their growth and engage directly with the largest and fastest-growing consumer market.”
