Philips Innovator Joins Virtual Caregiving Provider LifePod

BOSTON, July 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- LifePod Solutions, the pioneer in providing voice-first, intelligent and connected services to support seniors as they age-in-place, today announced Alan Bugos has joined the LifePod team to lead engineering, technology and innovation. Bugos spent the last 25 years as an accomplished technology executive specializing in the design, implementation and operations of next-generation connected services, most recently leading Technology and Innovation for Philips Home Monitoring (Lifeline).  At Philips, Bugos focused on developing solutions for senior safety, Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS), senior living and medication adherence and management.

Bugos will lead LifePod's engineering and development teams while simultaneously helping to define the company's technology platform strategy and to partner with the industry leaders required to execute it.  Prior to joining LifePod, Bugos' career included connected healthcare services at Philips Home Monitoring as Head of Technology and Innovation, deployment of cloud-based VoIP services as VP of Technology at Vonage, and researching advanced smart grids and connected electric vehicles at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Previously, he was also VP of Advanced Technology and Engineering for iBasis, a creator of value-added VoIP networks and services that was acquired by KPN in 2009 for $93M.  


He was the recipient of GTE's Warner Award, the highest technical achievement award for pioneering DSL data networks in 1997; he has published over 45 technical papers; he holds three patents; and he is a member of Eta Kappa Nu, Sigma Xi, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).  Mr. Bugos received a B.S. degree in Engineering Physics and an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering both from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and continued postgraduate study at Tufts University.
