BigKeys, BigTrack mouse and other assists for battling (or avoiding) computers

Many folks I know provide the tech support for their elderly parents -- a CEO of a very large software company in California once told me that about being sole tech support for his Florida-based father -- he made regular cross-country trips to fix this or configure that -- turns out his father only trusted him and so saved up all of his problems.

To help the army of family tech support, yesterday's Boston Globe ran a very interesting article by their tech columnist, Hiawatha Bray, yesterday called Bigger Can Be Better that reviewed some personal technology that could be helpful for seniors, including BigKeys which can make navigating a keyboard easier for the visually impaired, a large trackball mouse called BigTrack from InfoGrip, as well as Celery's e-mail service (no PC required) and Jitterbug, an easy-to-use large button cell phone from GreatCall.

These are all great products and cool companies. What's especially compelling about this particular column, though, is that it is accompanied by a video of Hiawatha Bray speaking the column text and showing each of the products one at a time. Check it out!
