OOMA® GIVES FAMILIES PEACE OF MIND WITH NEW SAFETY PHONE

CES, LAS VEGAS – Jan. 7, 2014Ooma®, Inc., the leader in smart home and business communication systems, introduces the Ooma Safety Phone, a new wearable phone that allows users to call for help during home emergency situations. This two-way communication device connects to the Ooma Telo and features two programmable speed-dial buttons that can be used to instantly call 911 emergency services and family members.

The Ooma Safety Phone is an innovative extension of the company’s patented 911 Alerts feature which allows Ooma subscribers to enter three email addresses and/or mobile phone numbers to automatically notify designated recipients when 911 is dialed from their home phone. With the new Ooma Safety Phone, users can immediately call 911 by simply pressing the first of two speed-dial buttons on the device, and simultaneously issue email and text alerts to up to three individuals. The second speed-dial button will sequentially dial up to five family members and friends until the call is answered. All these advanced features are easily set up using the “My Ooma” online control panel.

“More people than ever are finding themselves caring for an aging parent. The Ooma Safety Phone works with Ooma’s award-winning home phone service to provide added peace of mind to any care giver knowing that help is a touch of a button away,” said Jim Gustke, vice president of marketing at Ooma. “While seniors are often hesitant to wear a device that is solely for emergency purposes, the Ooma Safety Phone also gives seniors more mobility around the house to answer incoming phone calls and enjoy hands-free conversations.”

The Ooma Safety Phone uses DECT 6.0 radio technology, and can also be used to answer everyday incoming calls via the device’s speakerphone. When worn around the neck, users can talk hands-free from up to 150 feet away from the base station, increasing mobility around the home. The device comes with a built-in battery and standalone charger, allowing up to five hours of talk time, 120 hours in standby mode.

Starting at $49.99 M.S.R.P., the Ooma Safety Phone will be available at Ooma.com and select online retailers in February. The Ooma Safety Phone comes with a charging cradle, AC adaptor, easy to follow Quick Start Guide and lanyard. Usage requirements include high-speed Internet connection, an Ooma Telo device and Ooma Premier subscription. For more information, please visit: www.ooma.com.
